This tastes WAY better than the original!
There’s just something special about biting into a warm, sweet, and fluffy Bo-Berry Biscuit from Bojangles. It’s the perfect combination of buttery layers, sweet bursts of blueberry, and that signature sugary icing drizzle that melts in your mouth. Unfortunately, Bojangles isn’t exactly around the corner for me (the closest one is like 5 hours away), and if you’re like me and craving these Southern favorites, you know the struggle. That’s why I created my own version of the iconic Bojangles Bo-Berry Biscuits, and dare I say… they’re even better than the original!

These homemade blueberry biscuits are incredibly soft, thanks to frozen grated butter and rich buttermilk. Each bite is packed with juicy blueberries and a touch of sweetness that brings back all those fast-food breakfast memories, only this time, fresher and made with love.
To take it over the top, we add a homemade blueberry glaze made from fresh berries, sugar, and lemon zest, which gets drizzled generously over the hot biscuits. And yes, there’s also a velvety icing that adds just the right amount of tangy sweetness, balancing out the flavors perfectly.

Whether you’re missing your local Bojangles or just want to wow your family with an irresistible treat, this Bo-Berry Biscuit recipe is the answer. Great for breakfast, brunch, or dessert, these biscuits are soft, fluffy, sweet, and totally satisfying. And best of all? You don’t need to leave your kitchen to get that classic Southern flavor.
So fire up your oven and treat yourself to these copycat Bojangles Bo-Berry Biscuits because they might just become your new breakfast favorite!
Grocery List
- All purpose flour
- Baking powder
- Granulated sugar
- Salt
- Unsalted butter
- Buttermilk (A substitute for buttermilk if you don’t have any is to take a cup of milk, followed by a tbsp of fresh lemon juice. Let it sit for 5 minutes at room temperature before using).
- Blueberries (I prefer the taste of fresh blueberries, but frozen will do just fine, especially when blueberries aren’t in season).
- Lemons

Ingredients
For the biscuits
For the frosting
For the blueberry sauce
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
-
In a large bowl, combine the sifted flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
-
Grate the frozen butter directly into the flour mixture. Use your hands or a pastry cutter to incorporate until it resembles coarse crumbs.
-
Fold in the blueberries, being careful not to crush them.
-
Pour in the buttermilk and gently stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
-
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and gently pat it into a 1-inch thick rectangle. Fold the dough over itself a few times to create layers.
-
Cut biscuits using a round cutter and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
-
Bake for 30 minutes or until golden brown. Remove and let cool slightly.
-
Make the Blueberry Sauce:
-
In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the blueberries, sugar, lemon juice, and zest.
-
Simmer until the berries burst and the sauce thickens slightly, about 8–10 minutes. Remove from heat and cool slightly.
-
Make the frosting:
-
In a bowl, whisk together softened butter and powdered sugar until smooth.
-
Add milk and lemon juice, whisking until it forms a pourable icing.
-
Assemble:
-
While biscuits are still warm, drizzle each with the blueberry sauce, followed by the frosting.
-
Serve immediately and enjoy warm!
