Homemade lasagna is a classic dish that truly serves up the flavor. Generations of my family have made this recipe with their own variation. My take on the Italian staple features the perfect homemade sauce! It will make you forget about buying a can of sauce ever again!

Homemade lasagna is hearty and delicious

Lasagna can be made with a variety of proteins. Some choose to make it with ground beef, others with ground pork. I use a combination of ground turkey and Italian sausage for the best homemade lasagna flavor combination.

One of the reasons I love lasagna is how quick and easy it comes together. Homemade lasagna is also one of those recipes that builds its flavor as it builds. Every element of the dish should have seasoning but not too much as you don’t want an overly salty end result.

  • The sauce– If you want the best lasagna, use this sauce recipe! Because it’s homemade, its less processed ingredients involved with only a slight amount of sugar. It uses natural ingredients to provide the freshest of flavor.
  • Homemade lasagna is filling– I get stuffed off less than a serving and typically make this with homemade Caesar salad and garlic bread. This is truly a meal fit for a family!
  • It reheats well– Like most pasta dishes, not only does it freeze well, but it actually tastes better the next day!

  • Ground turkey
  • Italian sausage
  • Minced garlic
  • Can of crushed tomatoes
  • Olive oil
  • Chicken stock
  • Bell pepper
  • Basil
  • Baking soda
  • Fresh carrots
  • White onion

  • Soaking the lasagna noodles in hot boiling water will help cook the noodles rather than boiling them and make the homemade lasagna even better. For reference, check out my YouTube video below:
  • Adding baking soda to the sauce is meant to take out any acidity. I recommend adding it once the sauce is fully cooked to make the best homemade lasagna.
  • Let the lasagna cool 15 minutes prior to removing from the stove.
